Operation of God
Then Peter said unto them,
1) Repent,
2) and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
3) and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

1) Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death:
2) that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
3) even so we also should walk in newness of life.
---Buried with Him in baptism,
wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead.
Matthew 3:16,17/28:19/Acts 2:38Romans 6:4/2 Corinthians 2:12

Baptism by Immersion
"Our word "baptize" is translated from the original Greek word "baptizo", which means to immerse.
"Baptizo" does not mean sprinkle or pour.
--If our Lord had wanted people to be sprinkled, he would have inspired the New Testament writers to use the Greek word "rhantizo".
--If our Lord wanted people to be poured He would have inspired New Testament writers to use the Greek word "katacheo".

"God has decided how the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior are to be commemorated;
---He has given us the ordinance of baptism, which is intended to
commemorate the
death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
---We note that
baptism by immersion is the only accurate way to
memorialize the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior."

Q&A on Matthew 3:16:
And Jesus, when He was baptized - Christ, when He was baptized by John in the river Jordan, the place where he was baptizing,
went up straightway out of the water
---One would be at a loss at first sight for a reason why the
Evangelist should relate this circumstance; for after the ordinance was administered,
Q: why should He stay in the water?
Q: what should He do there?
---Everyone would naturally and reasonably conclude, without the mention of such a circumstance, that as soon as his baptism was over, He would immediately come up out of the water.
---However, we learn this from it, that since it is said, that He came up out of the water, He must first have gone down into it; must have been in it, and was baptized in it;
-*-*-a circumstance strongly in favor of baptism by immersion.

Baptism by Sprinkling?
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Timothy 4:3-4
"But we then ask the question,
Q: where then did sprinkling or pouring come from?
A: The first recorded case in all of early church history was that of Novatian in 251 AD, who lay sick on his bed and water was poured on him.
Q: Who made this first exception, man or God? ....God has not approved of it.
Sprinkling is just as vain
as if it had never been done.
This man made exception over the centuries became the man made accepted practice until at the Council of Ravenna in 1311 AD, man legalized sprinkling for baptism, but without God's authority."

Infant Baptism?
Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Matthew 15:14
"This doctrine of original sin is pivotal in the “sin and live” theology.
It was propagated by Rome, and is the foundation of infant baptism."
Christopher Fischer
1) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
Matthew 28:19,20
2) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38
3) And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
Matthew 3:6
4) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mark 16:16
---The Elements Leading up to Baptism:
Q: Where do they Point?
A: An Age of Consent (not infant baptism)

Baptism of the Dead?
Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead?
If the dead are not raised at all,
why then are they baptized for them?
1 Corinthians 15:29

"Just north of Corinth was a city named Eleusis
This was the location of a pagan religion where baptism in the sea was practiced to guarantee a good afterlife.
This religion was mentioned by Homer in Hymn to Demeter 478-79.
The Corinthians were known to be heavily influenced by other customs.
*
It is probable that the Corinthians were being influenced by the religious practices found at Eleusis where baptism for the dead was practiced.
Paul used this example from the pagans when he said, " . . . if the dead are not raised, then why are they baptized for the dead?
Paul did not say we.
*This is significant because the Christian church was not practicing baptism for the dead, but the pagans were.
Paul's point was simple.
--The resurrection is a reality.
--It is going to happen when Jesus returns.
--Even the pagans believe in the resurrection, otherwise, why would they baptize for the dead?"

Triune Godhead at Baptism of Christ
And straightway coming up out of the water, (Christ, the Son)
He saw the heavens opened,
and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him: (the Holy Spirit)
And there came a voice from heaven, (God the Father)
saying,
Thou art My beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased.
Mark 1:10,11

Date of His Baptism
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
Luke 3:1,2
The debate over the AD 31 date for the crucifixion, and therefore for dates of the prophetic timeline in Daniel's prophecies, is solid.
Add 3 and half years of Christ's ministry following His baptism in AD 27 you end up in D 31.
"Tiberius came to the throne in 12 AD.
He was a co-ruler with Augustus Caesar from 12 AD. So if you add
15 years to 12, you get AD 27
as and this chapter here is dealing with the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist.
But if you happen to be living in Judea, this happened when Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea.
And if you happen to be living in in um Galilee, it's when Herod was the tetrarch.
Philillip was the tetrarch  over the river Jordan and Trachonitis.
And if you happen living in the Abalene area is when Lysanius was the tetrarch there.
And it's when Annus and Caiaphas were high priests and the word of God came to John son of Zacharas.
If you're in the Levitical families you will have known when this happened as well.
So Luke is giving us all these historical characters.
So if you're a Roman in Rome, if you are living in Galilee, if you're living in Judea, if you're living beyond the Jordan, if you're living in
Jerusalem, and if you're in the Levitical families, you have a point of reference in these two verses.
What Luke is making sure is that nobody can dispute that Jesus of Nazareth was baptized in AD 27. That's the point of all this history.

SUMMARY:
1) CRUCIFIED WITH HIM- Knowing this, that our old man is
crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

2) BURIED WITH HIM- Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death:
3) RISEN WITH HIM- ...that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4,6

Sidenote: The Lord's Supper
Communion Service
                             [symbolism of the Lord's Supper]
*And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying,
This is My body which is given for you:
this do in remembrance of Me.
*And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
For this is My blood of the new testament,
which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
*And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
For as often as ye eat this bread,
and drink this cup,
ye do shew the Lord's death till He come.

Luke 22:19/ Matthew 26:27,28,30/1 Corinthians 11:26
